However, Lockley Homes have worked with a number of clients who have reduced their SDLT liability by not buying the finished property from Lockley, but, instead, buying the building plot at the outset and then entering into a build contract to complete the property. SDLT is only payable on the purchase price of the plot, not the completed property.
